Mongolia Bank High Availability between Production Datacenter and Backup Datacenter

KEY CHALLENGES

    Bank business system between production datacenter and backup datacenter working as the cold backup mode, when Production Datacenter is failure, Network administrator should activate all of device of Backup Datacenter by manual, it will spend long time to make sure Backup Datacenter can take over all of services from failure Production Datacenter. After Production Datacenter is recovery, Network administrator have to deactivate all of device of Backup Datacenter by manual too, it also will spend long time bring to effect. Because of that use manual mode to switch over between Production Datacenter with Backup Datacenter, the time of switch over services depend on Network administrator's experience and response speed.

SOLUTION

    For the inbound business service, using the GSLB solution, load balancing device as DNS Authoritative Name Server, it respond to DNS request directed to the business service. The deivce act as DNS servers for the sub-domain being load balanced, it are NS servers. When the user want to access business service, the request can according to the result of health check and matric value of user’s dns server to decide the result of DNS resolve, to use the best resolved host to response the request between the production datacenter and backup datacenter.

    For the IPSec VPN service, using the SLB with VRRP solution, load balancing device forward the VPN request to firewall of the production datacenter and backup datacenter based on the status of the VRRP, when production datacenter is failure, automatic switch over VPN request to the backup datacenter vpn gateway as the VPN peer with the partner side.

    For the ATM/POS service, using the SLB with VRRP solution, load balancing device forward the ATM/POS request to the internal server based on the status of the VRRP, when production datacenter is failure, automatic switch over request to the backup datacenter.
